There is a gas smell in the kitchen. Should a repair be booked?
Not first. Leave the house, take everyone with you, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside — not from inside the kitchen. An appliance visit comes after the gas has been made safe, never instead of it.
A burner clicks but will not light. Is that a repair?
Sometimes it is a cleaning. A burner cap sitting slightly out of place, or ports blocked with whatever boiled over last week, will stop a burner lighting on a stove that is otherwise fine — worth lifting the cap and checking before booking anything. Clicking that will not stop, or clicking with no spark at all, is the igniter side and is worth a visit.
Is the oven the same visit as the cooktop?
On a freestanding range they are one appliance and one visit. They are separate systems inside it, though, and the cooktop can be perfect while the oven is not, so it is worth saying on the booking form which of the two has failed.
